I visited Shirakawa-go & Takayama with my family.

Gassho-Zukuri Village, registered as a World Heritage site, is known for its numerous gassho-zukuri houses, some 100 large and small, where people still live and work.
Hirase Onsen, a hot spring located at the foot of Mt. Hakusan, and many other sightseeing spots where visitors can experience the wisdom and skills of tradition and the grandeur of nature.

Ogimachi Gassho Village is located slightly north of the center of Shirakawa Village in Gifu Prefecture. The village stretches about 1 km along the banks of the Shogawa River, which flows into a gorge, and 114 gassho-zukuri houses still exist. 630 villagers still live in the village. Once called Japan’s unexplored region, it is one of the country’s heaviest snowfall areas. The gassho-zukuri style was created by the wisdom of our ancestors to withstand the harsh climate. The nostalgic appearance of the olden times can be seen in various ways as nature changes from season to season.

Located in the northern part of Gifu Prefecture, Takayama City is a popular tourist destination known as Hida Takayama because it is the center of the Hida region. The city offers a townscape that retains the atmosphere of a castle town, spots where you can experience history and culture, and the great nature embraced by Mount Yarigatake and Mount Hotaka.
