Oku Oi Lake Station is located on a peninsula on the left bank of Lake Tessai, which was created by the construction of the Nagashima Dam. The peninsula is flanked on both sides by the Oku Oi Rainbow Bridge, a railway bridge on the Minami-Alps Aputo Line (Igawa Line), making the station look as if it is floating above the lake, which is very unusual.

奥大井湖上駅は、長島ダムの建設に伴い誕生したダム湖（接岨湖）の左岸につき出た半島状の場所に立地。その半島の両脇には南アルプスあぷとライン(井川線)の鉄橋「奥大井レインボーブリッジ」が架かり、まるで湖の上に浮かんでいるかのように見える、とても不思議な駅です。
