The “Dream Suspension Bridge” (Yume no Tsuribashi) in Sumatakyo Gorge, Kawanehon Town, Shizuoka Prefecture, is a suspension bridge 8 meters high and 90 meters long over the Oma Dam lake.
It is a beautiful bridge over a magical emerald-green lake. It is said that if you pray for love in the middle of the bridge, your wish will come true. Only 10 people may be on the bridge at one time, and visitors are asked to cross in one direction only. The view of the emerald water and the rich nature of the Southern Alps makes it a very popular photo spot. In 2012 it was chosen by TripAdvisor as one of the world’s must-cross walking suspension bridges.
Early Morning at the Dream Suspension Bridge
We visited at 6:00 a.m. on October 29, 2021.
Only in the early morning can you walk back and forth across the bridge. At other times it is one-way.
The local hot spring water is smooth and good for the skin.
Local green tea, a specialty of the area, is sold in vending machines.
Many foreign visitors come here, so signs are also written in English.
From here, you can only continue on foot.
