Adera Valley, Nagano Prefecture (April 2021)
The Adera River is famous for its emerald-green water, and the valley, with its mix of rocks and trees, is spectacular.
The valley is in Okuwa Village, Kiso District, Nagano Prefecture. After turning off National Route 19, you follow the Adera River, a tributary of the Kiso River, with magnificent views of the Kiso River and the Japanese Alps along the way.

These photos were taken in mid-April, after two or three days of heavy rain, and the river was full of snowmelt. Fresh green leaves were just starting to bud, a real treat for the eyes.

Above all, the water is so clean that it is truly soothing.

With so much water, the waterfall was flowing strongly.

The weather was beautiful that day, and we had a wide view of the Japanese Alps.

In summer the valley is busy with families camping. The emerald-green river is a must-see. Next time, I would love to come back in the autumn leaf season.
