戦国の世を生き抜き、空襲からも免れた強運の城 A fortunate castle that survived the Warring States period and escaped air raids
現在国宝として指定されているのはこの犬山城（通称：白帝城）をはじめ、松本城、姫路城、彦根城、松江城の全国でわずか5城。室町時代の天文6年（1537年）に織田信長公の叔父である織田信康公によって建てられたと伝えられ、天守最上階からの眺めは絶景です。平成16年に公益財団法人 犬山城白帝文庫に移管されるまで、全国で唯一個人所有であった珍しいお城として脚光を浴びています。
Currently, only five castles nationwide are designated as national treasures: this Inuyama Castle (also known as Hakutei-jo), along with Matsumoto Castle, Himeji Castle, Hikone Castle, and Matsue Castle. It is said to have been built in 1537 (Tenbun 6), during the Muromachi period, by Oda Nobuyasu, uncle of Oda Nobunaga, and the view from the top floor of the keep is spectacular. Until it was transferred to the Inuyama Castle Hakutei Bunko public interest foundation in 2004 (Heisei 16), it drew attention as the only privately owned castle in the country — a rare distinction.
