In 2014, my family traveled to Italy and Croatia on a European trip.
Croatia is a country in Southeast Europe located along the Adriatic Sea, sharing borders with Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. Its capital and largest city is Zagreb, while the coastal city of Dubrovnik is famous worldwide for its well-preserved medieval walls and stunning Old Town. Croatia is known for its stunning coastline, more than a thousand islands, and clear turquoise waters, making it a popular destination for sailing and beach holidays. The country also boasts UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Plitvice Lakes National Park, renowned for its cascading waterfalls and vividly colored lakes. Croatian cuisine reflects Mediterranean and Central European influences, featuring fresh seafood, olive oil, and hearty meat dishes. With a rich history shaped by Roman, Venetian, and Austro-Hungarian rule, Croatia offers visitors a unique blend of culture, architecture, and natural beauty.
