In 2014, my family traveled to Italy and Croatia on a European trip.
Croatia is a country in Southeast Europe on the Adriatic Sea, bordering Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. Its capital and largest city is Zagreb, while the coastal city of Dubrovnik is famous worldwide for its well-preserved medieval walls and beautiful Old Town.
Croatia is known for its long coastline, more than a thousand islands and clear turquoise water, which make it a popular destination for sailing and beach holidays. It also has UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Plitvice Lakes National Park, famous for its cascading waterfalls and vividly colored lakes.
Croatian food reflects both Mediterranean and Central European influences, with fresh seafood, olive oil and hearty meat dishes. Shaped by Roman, Venetian and Austro-Hungarian history, Croatia offers a unique mix of culture, architecture and natural beauty.
